Re: The Brotherhood/Sisterhood of the SANDSTORMS Thread
I haven't pulled that thing out in over a year. I've used the air jack to rotate tires, but never in a recovery situation.
With the stock exhaust, I could lift the truck using the exhaust. The aFe cat-back I have just doesn't fit together tightly enough to get the truck off the ground. So I took a 1/4" nipple, butchered the small exhaust cone and took apart a $0.99 quick disconnect air coupler for parts and built my own compressor adapter (I think the one Titan was selling was and extra $20). I thought I had a picture, but I can't find it now. Anyway, the jack is easy to use, but putting it back up is a small hassle, so I use my hi-lift. I am pretty sure I didn't even have it with me at the summit, since I was packed for three people on a 19 day vacation.

Hey guys/girls
I just got my 2010 Adventure pkg (C package) manual. On Oct 26 from 1000 Islands Toyota in Ontario. Got rid of my 2005 4Runner LimitedV8 to get it. Man it was a long wait. Put my money down at the end of June. But it was sooo worth it. I love this truck! The more I drive it the better I like it. I had'nt even driven the manual, no one had one. They were all slush boxes. I took my Cornfed 3" lift off the 4Runner and put it on the FJ. Works great, sits perfectly level. And I put in the URD short throw shifter. (Boy, they were'nt kidding when they said it was hard to get it in reverse!) My list of mods to do is way to long to list right now, but I'll probably do a build up once I get farther in. I call it the Thug. Because it's big and tough and takes all my money. Though my wife sais it looks like our sons Pug dog. Black ears (mirrors) black around the eyes (grill). OH have I mentioned I love this truck?
I feel like Homer in the land of chocolate. He he he.

Welcome as well & want to see some SS pics!!
OCR14 sorry about the soggy feet! Been wondering how the heck you
have been as well!! Say hey to your better half!!
Woodsman...WTH have you been up to??
Komobo???
Celtic Cruiser...how about you??
The ol' Mud Pup is almost fully Blacked out and is more like a "Black & Tan"
(for those of you who drink beers). Debating on whether or not to
partially black out the hood. I bought the vinyl thingy on e-bay and it's
supposed to cut down on glare, so it might be cool!!
Alohas!!

It seems like those things would be ideal for you beach bums. They might come in handy up here in the snow as well, but I've never seen them tested like that.....just assuming it would be better than a skinny piece of metal drilling down into the snow.

James, I have much better tires now, so I won't trash one so easily.

Hello Vagabond, welcome to the Brotherhood/sisterhood thread, and sincere congrats on your new rig. I am glad to ad one more person to the list, and I am sure everyone else feels the same.
We hope to see more of your pics and stories posted here after you take your new wheels out for fun and R&R. Cheers!

Hello Theodore, congrats on your new FJ, it is an awesome vehicle. I love your little write up, it is quite engaging and clearly shows you love your vehicle and this sport. Thank you, I enjoyed reading it and I hope you will post more stories, pics, and adventures for all to enjoy. You've been added to the list, and on behalf of everyone, welcome to the brotherhood/sisterhood of the Sandstorms! By the way, I like "Thug" a lot, and goes with your screen name very well..good job
Re: The Brotherhood/Sisterhood of the SANDSTORMS Thread
Adopted my '08 SandStorm Beauty in December of 2008. 4 X 2 for Urban Warfare vs. Offroading. Purchased w/O.E.M. roof rack (looking to modify-I have a killer design for a drop in flat bottom grate) and will be having my F.I.L. who is an architect put it on CAD3 for me. Will show progress once Paten is pending. Added tow hitch for boating, all weather mats, and my new E.G.A. hitch cover.
Christmas Wish List over the years:
1. O.E.M. brush guard
2. WAAG bumper guards front and rear
3. Tail light guards
4. Scanner
5. CB
