Got emailed some photos of the Aluminess rear bumper, thought i'd share.
"Just a quick update on the bumper...
We have the FJ Rear aluminum bumper put together and are finishing the corner side trim pieces. It will be a complete bolt-on replacement for the stock bumper, with locking storage in the bumper itself, as well as options for swing arm-mounted spare tire and storage box. I have attached two photos of the project as it is today showing just the raw aluminum welded up…the box and tire rack are to be added.
My schedule has me traveling so the project has slowed down. It should be done by the end of the month along with a roof rack.
Thanks for keeping us in mind. We will be contacting you once it is ready.
I like the idea of the Aluminum rear bumper since it should save substantial weight compared to adding a steel bumper. However, I'm not sold on the design yet. Look forward to seeing some of the finished design picutres when you get them.
Maybe a steel bumper with aluminum swing outs. Strength vs weakness in the right places. I think chainlink fence and high school welding class with it's simple angles and simple bends. The simplistic boxy bottom part of the bumper looks way to plain for the FJ's curved lines.
The roof rack could prove to be very practical in Aluminum!
Thanks for sharing!
I think the gates are to hold the bull rider in until they are open. Maybe the bull gates are to hold 2 spare tires on it. Or maybe someone can leash there horse to it if you were still living in the old west. One tire for each side. hahahahahahahahahahah
