Please describe the size of the chips. I have numerous small little white spots, tiny tiny little chips. I am concerned it will get worse, but I have nothing on mine larger than the head of a pin. Is this the size of chip you are talking about?
Other than the spots, I have had not problems with vehicle, and the dealership has been fantastic. I have an appointment for them to look at why the back door seems to drop down slightly, but closes fine. I have bought several vehicles from Gosch Auto Plaza in Hemet, California. Nothing but positive coments about them.
Yes, Ira Toyota in Milford. This is by far one of the best dealerships to buy from. Judging from your experience, it seems very similiar to mine there!

My chips range from the size of a pin head to about 1/4 inch in diameter. Even on the white roof!

Yesterday I filed a complaint with Toyota on both the Windshield issue as well as the Paint Chip issue. I told them that I had today off and would go by the dealer.
Last weekend I was at Ira Toyota but their service department was closed. Everyone there knows me and I had a talk with the Sales Manager. He knows me and told me to come back and talk with the service manager. He said their would take care of it.
So today, I go to Ira and the Service Manager was great! I gave him my Toyota case number and then he told me his plan. Ira / Toyota will pay for a brand new paint job free! He said they will probably add more coats to it but won't know the particulars until he gets a date to do this. The biggest problem is that their moving down the street. There is no body shop there so they will have to flatbed my rig and ship it to another dealer for the free paint job. He said they will strip it down to the primer and then work from there! I was so please! Thank you Ira!
For all on this forum who have paint chip issue, file a complaint with Toyota and if you have a good standing at your dealership, hopefully you'll walk out like I did with a free paint job! Roof and All!
...Just wondering if maybe you have a claim # for when you called Toyota about your paint......I visited my dealership (Berlin City) on Feb 27'th and they still haven't done anything about it.....I was in there this past Wednesday for an oil leak and they still didn't have any answers about the paint...I printed out some pages from here about all the paint issues and gave them to the service manager......they actually mentioned picking up a bottle of touch up paint to fix the MANY spots of white.....I told them that was un-acceptable....this will be added support for my paint being repaired correctly!
Yes, I do have a claim number. Toyota should have given you one. Without it the dealership has no pressure to address the issue. All claim numbers should start with the numbers 2007 for this year.

Just on a side note, my 03 Rav4 had the same exact problem you are describing, it was worse due to the front of the rav was painted not plastic and rubber like the FJ, looked like it was sand blasted. The bottom line is Toyota paint SUCKS, I can't say enough about how much it sucks. I bought the FJ knowing the paint sucks, I agree it should not suck and Toyota should correct this issue at their cost. I figure in 10yrs, I'll just have the FJ repainted.
I've got several chips as well on my black (clear coat) TRD. A dab of touch up pain is the way to go. It's the trail scratches that kill me. The black shows EVERYTHING.
Anyone have any recommendations on how to "fill" the little while clear coat scratches on a black paint job? mcGuires "Scratch-X" removes a bit of the clear coat, but has been recommended. I also have some scratches where I got broken into in Manhattan and they smashed the drivers side rear door window and scratched it up while grabbing bags from the back seat...arg, for some reason that bugs me more than all the brush scratches I did myself off-road.

you can try bringing it to a GOOD experienced car detailer, they can buff the scratches out or even wet sand them out. it all depends how bad the scratches really are and how much material they have to remove to clear the scratches up. but if your going to be going off-road, then whats the point, its just going to get scratched more and more.
