Re: Paint Chips and Ira Toyota

Ya know, that Northwest statement from Toyota is a stroking service. I just moved to KC, Mo from the Los Angeles area and my truck looked like someone sandblasted the front and sides BEFORE I ever left.

Filing claim. SDIVER78 do you have all the contact info for the folks you talked to? i would greatly like to rake him slowly over the coals...especially since my gradient Voodoo paint job is getting worse by the day.....

Ohh and Chalk me up to broken windshield.......dammit. My poor twuck!

+1 I live in the midwest, east of st. louis and took delivery in late July....just over 2 months ago. No salt around here for months yet and has never been on gravel....about 30 specks that are rust in color, surrounded by an oily blue look. Mine is BD and has 2000 highway miles on it so far. Yeah, I know it's lame but my work schedule hasn't given me much chance to get off road.

I will be stopping off at 2 body shops before going to the dealer next week as I do not think mine are rock chips, due to the oily blue appearence.

Re: Paint Chips and Ira Toyota

I also have several chips on the A-pillars, the rear fenders, and the hood. To me, is seems the whole truck was painted white first, then had the color applied to produce the two tone effect. You can feel the difference in paint height where the color starts. I know from experience that if paint is applied too thick, it cracks off like a candy shell. I believe this to be the case. If you notice most chips reveal the white paint underneath. very few go to the metal. Im not happy.
