Actually that brings up a question... Are you guys sure it comes from the tranny? Every time I'm around an MT FJ I hear a chirping noise from under the hood.

Re: chirping noise??

Well, in my opinion it sounds like it's coming from the engine. But it's hard to narrow down exactly where the noise is coming from.

Yea I get that after going mudding or swimming, just take the pressure washer to it... stay away from the alternator...

Re: chirping noise??

It's probabaly the clutch throw-out bearing. The link below has a little background about the problem and a sound clip for comparison. I had a 5-speed IS300, and Lexus eventually issued a technical service bulliten cause all the 5-speeds were having the same issue. Hope this helps.

my.IS - Clicking sound when the car is running

When I press the clutch pedal in about an 1/2",
which adds pressure to the throwout bearing,
the chirp stops, as soon as you lift yuor foot,
it starts up, in this case, it is deffinently the
bearing, not a pully... I do know that there has
been a good amount of people that have had
the pully issue too... ust not me... yet ...
