how many did you inspect? 30% is a lot if you inspected 30 but not so much if you only looked at 3.

It sounds like Toyota is fixing the problem but I would still be pissed knowing some 1/2 drunk body shop flunky (ok...not all shop guys are idiots) is taking apart and reassembling my FJ for something that should have never happened.

and for the record...no rips/buldges and I have a early build date.

The rips on my FJC are the worst I've seen tp this point (including Air2Air). They have now ripped completely through on both sides, and the D/S is bulging and popping the plastic top cover off. However, I've have no hood / fender shift, or issues with doors hiting the fenders. I am planning on returning to the Dealer so they can document the rapid changes I've had since the last inspection, and to try and get a feel for any new thoughts they have on this issue.... At this point, the longer Toyota takes to resolve the issue, the more expensive each repair will be. I am hoping the problem does not impact any of my external panels by the time a solution (or at least a temp fix) is determined. I've been checking every FJC that comes into my shop, and about half have some signs of the problem - more on the earlier build dates...

So you've seen '07 builds with the problem. Thats what scares me about them replacing my fenders.

They need to come up with a solution on how to stop it from happening. Mine have also gotten worse with time. The DS has ripped all the way around. Each side has multiple rips. I really don't want my rig taken apart more then once, but from the sounds of what my service guy said its going to be covered only with in the waranty time. So I'm having it fixed and when it happens again I hope there will be a solution. Something needs to be done quickly if Larry's and Highbeams %'s are right. I to have seen many FJ's with the problem. Most just have the bulges and not the rips yet. Good luck to us all.
