I just spent an hour photoing and trying to explain what is going on here....am I on everyone's "ignore" list or what????
It has ABSOLUTly nothing to do with the bumper... i've seen several completly stock fj's with these fractures,, i even had a bulge on mine before i put 32 tires on.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

I just filled out my Toyota product quality survey and I told them about my bulge in there. I included a link to this thread. I hopefully will be contacted. I need to get to the dealer and show them though.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Hello

I am a noob to the forum.

I was looking to buy four of the 2007 model FJ Cruisers as site cars here in the Middle East.

The fatigue/stress cracking of the engine bay spars as reported here has me holding off on any purchase.

I cannot find any statement from Toyota on this matter.

Is this problem widespread and have Toyota done anything to correct this on the current model?

Or are they doing the usual corporate avoidance thing that is so common these days?

Any feedback gratefully received. Feel free to PM me if you prefer anonymity.

R

Exclamation Re: Engine Bay Body Rips - Manual Trans Exempt ???

I've noticed something while checking FJs that come into our shop - THe manual transmission FJCs have a large plate mounted to the D/S inner fender well, used to support the clutch master cylinder. It mounts directly over the area that would bulge and crack. I have not seen the problem on any of these vehicles yet. Do all the members with bulges/ cracks have the auotmatic trans ??? Just wondering if the clutch master mounting plate prevents the issue on manual trans models....

Post up here, please.... TIA
