I still didnt report this event to my dealership. Im going to take it there when the service is due a few hundred miles to go till the service date.
q80fj,
PLEASE TAKE YOUR TRUCK IN AS SOON AS YOU CAN.
My truck already has(being painted now) new inner fenders, so I have to hope for the best. But for the sake of those folks like yourself, who need new parts that wont fail, take your truck in to show Toyota the problems with the New Crumble Zone Design. I can only hope the "reinforcing" that was vaguely referred to means the difference between the New Inner Fender Panels that were used to replace my old ones, and yours.
I am sorry that you are also experiencing the problem. As much as I want you to take your truck in tomorrow, be prepared that they will hold the vehicle as it as a safety issue, and provide you with a rental. Take all your stuff out of the truck, everything. Its going to the bodyshop. I had to schlep all my crap into the rental. Thats what happened to me, just giving you advise.
Make sure they don't take your truck if they don't have a part that wont fail again. I may have made that mistake. Time will tell.
Good Luck
..x2
Thanks Larry.
People Toyota is trying to figure it out. Again as a few of us keep saying it's going to take some time. They are taking the old parts off our vehicles to study. They are testing the vehicle they have. All you people that do not have or will not buy an FJ until Toyota comes forward need to chill out a bit. Please post your remarks and negative feelings in an other thread. Lets keep this thread more constructive. Thank you.
I've highlighted the principal horse**** in that paragraph.
Do you work for Toyota? Or have some kind of vested interest in the FJ Cruiser?
There are 100+ recorded failures of a main chassis component here and you suggest that prospective buyers who are holding off on a purchase 'chill out'?
I keep logging in here hoping to see some kind of statement from Toyota. I am still waiting. In another two weeks we will be buying Nissan Patrols.
If I owned one of the effected vehicles I would file a NHSTA complaint immediately on the grounds of reduced crashworthyness. That would 'speed things up' a little.

I'm not trolling. I don't have any interest in Nissan. I have owned two Toyotas previously and have not had any real problems. I'm also not a near illiterate, unlike you.
I posted earlier that I was looking at the purchase of some FJ Cruisers for site vehicles here in the Middle East. This forum has shown (to me at least) that there is a potential design defect that has affected a number of vehicles so far.
I was hoping that there would be some form of official statement from Toyota by now so that I could make a call on whether the 2007 models here are OK, as I am certain that Toyotas Engineers already know exactly what the problem is.
The fact that Toyota haven't come forward yet indicates to me that this is a potential big issue. I'm not flaming or trying to stir the pot, but I do find Bernds post to be naive, complacent and apologetic for Toyota.
