Instead of having a conversation about your activities, have a conversation about the damage, whats happening to the car, and what they will do to ensure it does not happen again.

If the Service Guy is full of it, go somewhere else for this. You want the best service possible for this issue. IMO.

Get off of the computer and take your FJ in. I get mine back today, you will help me find out if it is going in again.

Please do not think I am a jerk, but WE are ALL counting on YOU to take your truck in ASAP. Toyota needs to know this is more than a crumple zone placement issue.
Wjorg i called the service director and am going there tomorrow at 3pm as i stated before they dont know anything about this matter am going to take pictures from the forum to show the director.Btw next closest dealership is an hour drive. Im really trying my best i've got alot of work in the university also trying to finish up on stuff. Am sorry for the delay but im really trying my best.

Thanks q80fj. In the grand scheme of things, it's just a car and we all have lives outside of FJs, so we're very appreciative of anything you can accomplish on our behalf.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Well mine went in today. The body shop got all the parts finally. They are replacing the two fender aprons and the front clip. They told me at least two weeks. I hope toyota will find a solution before the new parts rip. I already miss my FJ. Just have to wait. Just like last year around this time when I put money down on my order. At least this time it's not going to be a 2 1/2 month wait

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

My FJ is a 01/07 build, just took delivery on Friday, 9/28/07, one of the last 07's on the lot. Has the revised inner fenders...no bulging or cracks at 720 miles... I'll take pics so I have a baseline.

Had read this thread thoroughly and decided to buy anyway. The FJ is too good to miss out on because of this.

I was told 1 week for the job. Thursday will be three weeks past that delivery date.

But you have the right attitude, if they can fix it before our new parts rip, it wont be so bad. I have a month to go before the day I signed the papers on my Truck.

How much has this depreciated the value of the vehicle? Of course that would be proportional to the value of the vehicle at the time that it is re-sold. Not that I am planning on selling my Truck. However, considering I am still paying it off, this depreciation concept because of the Body Work is starting to get a bit difficult to swallow. Really, I just look forward to having my truck back and not having more crumple zone issues. Maybe its the rear diff next for me...I will keep my fingers crossed though. I bought this vehicle because I trusted Toyota.

if they told you a week and took almost a month tell them they need to reimburse you or compensate you some how just stay positive and treat this like a business situation they understand that best

This is the same way I felt. I went ahead and bought mine knowing about the cracks and bulging. I took delivery September 1, 2007. The odometer just hit 800 miles tonight. One month old. No bulging or cracks. Build date 06/07. I have taken numerous base line photographs.

Oh, the Dealer I am dealing with has shown exceptional Service, a complimentary Rental. Its the availability of parts and the body shop I was waiting on, no fault of theirs. I have no worries with the 4 weeks. Patience usually leads to a better job.

With regards to Compensation, I was referring to the fact that our vehicles will be less valuable in terms of Blue Book considering the Body Work necessary to accommodate the design flaw. I was previously not planning on selling it, however... How do we determine that amount of compensation necessary considering the vehicles worth is determined at the time the vehicle is re-sold? If you are paying it off still, you are paying for an even less valuable vehicle now. Or should we even go there in this thread......

No frame damage and the body has not been repainted, I doubt it will even be detectable once it is all back together. There is not an insurance claim and warranty repairs do not appear on Carfax, you should be alright as far as value goes. Just make sure the shop does a great job and inspect it thoroughly before taking delivery.
