Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

This whole thing got me thinking of a thread on the Ex One bumper from over a year ago where those guys addressed something very similar.

Quote:
Expedtion One previously said:
OK I'm showing this becuase I feal the need to be informative to everyone that might buy one of thease bumpers. I'm spacifically showing this becuase it bugged, and it probobly bugged me a whole lot more than it would other people. I was going to change it but after testing the bumper Its going to stay, and the pictures will explain why....

THE GAP>>>>

this gap is about 3/8 of an inch to 1/2 inch both sides of the bumper (maybe smaller becuase I didn't really messure it and I'm probobly over dramitizeing the whole thing)

Now hear we have mad flex, so much that the front tire is floating..... sweet....

but notice the two sides of the bumper & how the gap looks now....

now its about 2mm or less from touching the body on the driver side....

And about 1.25" on the passanger....

so sad to say the gap is staying, but I think were going to add some of that stuff you buy for your doors to protect the outer edges from contact with other stuff. It will make the gap appear smaller and help prevent and damage that potentially could occur wile offroading...

any questions, coments, or concerns?

As I posted with pics earlier in the thread, I have a stock bumper... and a bulge. I have not done the poll yet, so I guess someone out there has the same issue.
Do you have a lift or bigger tires todd?

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Thanks for the heads up Bernd

I have an OME lift, 285/70/17 Tires and stock bumper. So far no cracks or bulges that are visible. I will be sure to keep my eye on that area.

Once again this forum shows how awesome and supportive everyone is. I am proud to be a member

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

nothing.

i've run stock, OME, and now 883s with 285 tires.

and i drive over washboards at 40-50mph usually, while doing moderate to heavy off roading around gainesville.

i was hoestly expecting something when i popped the hood and saw that i had jarred the coolant overflow tank free one day.
