I'm sorry, this is normally a friendly forum and a great bunch of people. Maybe you aren't the idiot you seem to be.
Rear diff = big issue
rips = BIGGER issue
These are not merely cosmetic and do affect the crumple zones. There is this little thing called physics that comes into play in this universe. You are obviously unfamiliar with it, that makes the issue more than small. The folks here who paid 30 grand for their trucks are concerned, and they should be. Here is where they come to get info, etc. It is a good thing, not bad, and they should not be insulted.
Neither should you I guess, for something obviously beyond your grasp, so, apologies.
No, I am very familiar with it. I don't see crumple zones as a big issue. As a matter of fact, I would rather that new vehicles did NOT come with crumple zones and used stronger steel. The only person I see keep getting insulted around here, is me. Calling me names over something which doesn't affect whether your vehicle drives, or not? The rear diff issue is truly a higher priority in my opinion.

Get real? I think you are the one who should 'get real'. What if you cannot drive it? What if the teeth on the ring gear blow and the whole diff becomes trashed and will not move? What if you cannot fix it on the trail? If you get stranded in the desert or someplace remote, you are screwed, and it is more life threatening than some engine bay body rips. You all are the ones who need to get real. If you crash, your FJ will absorb the impact regardless, and your air bags will engage and save your life. There are no safety bags for broke down in the middle of no-where.

Engine bay body rips are cosmetic, and not structural. A frame coming apart, that would be structural.
Well that is what you get for 4x4ing alone. You get stranded.. Use some common sense, if you have some.. You never 4x4 alone just in case you crash or break beyond what you can fix on the trail, or lord forgive your vehicle breaks a fule line and it burns..

All these things can happen while on the trail and you can't do anything about them either, just like you can't help it is a Diff breaks while you are bouncing over a rock trying to show just how mucho you are, that is the only way I have ever seen a diff break on the trail, trying to show off...

So go to another thread and bug somome else...
Thanks

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Apparently a few of you completely ignored my cordial plea to simmer it down. This forum is not the place for put-downs or insults of other members. Simple as that.

Final warning to those whom this applies.

Thank you.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

I continue to be amazed/disgusted/frustrated/etc. at the non topic venting, arguing, whining and just plain stupid remarks being made on a thread dedicated to a most serious issue.

Thanks LCSteve for stepping in.

BTW, anyone have any "news" from Toyota or new developments? What is the status of the '08 with the bulges?????

cheers,

dale

Hi Guy's whats interesting i went out to the desert last weekend in my friends FJ 2008 we were third in a convoy of vehicals following a Nissan Patrol safari and a OLD golloper 2 we traveled about 30k cross some really fun desert NO JUMPING had to dig and tow all vehicals quite a few times when we got back to the road we poped the bonnet on the FJ to connect the Air pump and noticed that the Drivers side inner wing was rippling we checked the vehical for other damage the front bumper was cracked but when checking under the car and the front crumple zone rail on the front frame NO DAMAGE at all on then digging around the offside we noticed that there is a scuff mark on the inner win where the Drivers offside wheel has come up at some point and contact with the Innerwing what it looks like to us is the BUMP stop has failed to stop the exccessive travel of the wheel its hit the inner wing the energy has trantered up to the upper lip of the inner wing and has caused a ripple! for front bumper impact to damage the upper inner wing that would mean that the front rails would have to move or the body shell would have to move NO that has not happen all the relevent bolts are tight so that means the issues have to be local to the innerwing side were the damage has occured to cause ripples something has to move to cause the flexing that causes the ripple! Long statement but needed to get my thought out to you guy's BTW i have a FJ as well 2008

could you post some pics? I'd really like to see the ripple... thanks
