[quote=makaser;732494]We not really in it to try to break TMC. What I want is my truck fixed, and not to just throw a bandaid on it. If they put a new fender on it, and that fender in turn does the same thing, then the next repair will be more difficult. Every time you cut and reweld something, you are removing original meatal and replacing it with filler. You can only do that so many times. You are also degrading the integrity of the panel every time you do it. You increase the possability of rust in the future too. So yeh, I opted out of getting a bandaid put on since that's really not going to fix it. I'll wait until they actually come up with a fix.

Wow, tally the Stock and near stock votes
Stock bumper, no lift
Stock bumper, w/lift
Stock bumper, w/lift and 285/70 17's
Stock with Skid Plates

and non-stock votes and you'll see more people with Stock/near stock rides
having this issue then modded rides.

Yep, kinda dispells the myth that lifts and aftermarket bumpers are the cause.

In the paperwork I got back from my dealership, the regional tech rep acknowledged that my mods were NOT the issue, and the service manager agreed - although my rig did attract a lot of attention from a bunch of techs

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Here is a pic of the passenger side with a dent looking thing. It is not located on the dimple where everyone else's seem to be but to the left of it. It is hard to see by the pic but it gives you a little bit of an idea of the location of it in relation to the crumple zones. It doesn't seem to bulge but more like a dent caused by a tool hitting it. But I just want you guys to check it out and tell me what you guys think.

Yeh, I'm pretty sure that's the newer version of the fenders. The crumple zones on the older version are almost in line with eachother. I havne't really seen a bulging fender on the new version. I've seen what "feels" like a bulge, but you can't even see it. You can only really feel it and feel a wave in the metal. The one that I looked at wasn't on the top like this, but more between the crumple zones. I would certainly keep an eye on it though.

Of course, you say it looks like a dent from a tool hitting it? I might go interogate the last guy who changed your oil too.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Yeah I should ask the last person who changed my oil. When u say between crumple zones do u mean inside the dimple? Or inbetween two dimples? Yeah I'll definately keep an eye on it. I've heard by reading through some of other threads that there has been bulges/rips with the newer builds. Unless these people were just starting rumors.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

So far, as far as I know there has only been pics posted of one '07 build with the problem and we've had no follow up since they took the vehicle to the dealer to check it out... Any additional info available?????

We've also seen a post of an '08 having a bulge, but no pics.

My thought is... If you are going to post that you have a bulge or rip post the evidence! Please!

cheers,

dale

Yes, between the crumple zones. Although from what I've seen on the replacement innner fenders that are now bulging, the bulge tends to start shoing around the crumple zones. Like you can run your fingers around a normal crumple zone and the panel is flat and then dips down, but on one that is starting the bulge, the crumple zone has a definit ripple around the crumple zone, and then procedes to warp the panel between the two crumple zones.

I will post pics in the next few days with a straight edge up to it so you can see it. Again though, mine is a 5/06 build with almost 23,000 miles on it.
