I know, downgrade was such a powerful word, I meant that he use to take doors off, fold windshield, take top off, & disco his swaybar with the benifit of SFA, how do handle not having all that after you do. Youngster, did I answer your question....
Youngster? YOUNGSTER! How old you do you think I am?

But I appreciate the clarification, I did not recognize the sarcasm. (kind of rare for me since I live and breathe sarcasm!)

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

It seems like about every 20-30 posts in this thread, someone has to come along and attempt to provoke reactions from those who are otherwise trying discuss this topic in a relatively logical and civilized manner.

If you're totally oblivious to what the topic of discussion is here, or you're completely unaware of the demographics and circumstances surrounding this issue about the inner fender bulging and/or cracking, please do us all a favor by reading a good chunk of the preceding 2400 posts to get up to speed. (Most of the rest of us have already read most of this thread.)

Then you can join in the discussion without embarrassing yourself with unsubstantiated comments about us abusing our FJ's and/or insulting us by implying that we don't know how to drive.

And, if you prefer another make and model of 4X4, and you think it's superior (or you enjoy insulting us by calling our choice in 4X4s as a "downgrade"), then fine. Just don't use this particular thread or forum as an attention-getting soapbox to boast your preferred vehicle in a continued condescending manner. (I hope that part is understood, Youngster.)

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

YAY!!! Hamer Toyota approved to replace both inner fenders , even though I only have a bulge in one. The lady who was the area rep. (who was smoking hot by the way) said they have redesigned the fenders. Ill take some b4 and after pictures. Duke my service writer , the service manager and the area rep.,at Hamer made it quick and easy didnt give me any beef.
On a side note Northridge Toyota where I bought my FJ from gave me the run around saying " The rep. is the only one that can approve repair and they are only at the drl. once a month (BS) then they said I need to leave me truck 1 full day so they can inspect it, and see if they cover it of if my mods caused it"
So if your in the Valley avoid Northridge Toyota for this issue.

It is ironic that a dealer noted for pushing FJ Cruiser accessories, and sponsoring truck shows displaying modified vehicles, is the one to hassle a loyal customer about a known problem - not surprising to me, as they took a deposit from me for an FJC they didn't actually have to sell (it was already sold when they requested my deposit) when I was first shopping for mine...

Engine Bay Body Rips

I'm a little unsure of where to post this, but seeing as this is the forum known for the body rips I suppose this is the logical spot.

For those of you that have have the dreaded body rips did you notice the problem immediately or gradually? I accidentally got my FJ a little airborne recently and would like to know. Its not something that I'm terribly worried about, but just a little curious.

If you want to know how I accidentally got a vehicle airborne I'll just tell you that it involved a ton of stupidity, a few beers, and a beautiful girl that wanted to see just what a FJ is capable of.

EDIT: I moved your post into this ongoing discussion to keep everything as consolidated as possible.

That's so classic. Thanks for you post, brought a smile to my face this morning. By the way, sorry for the buldges. I love San Marcos by the way. Best spot in Texas, right between my two favorite towns. Been very tempted to move there. I won't hijack to ask, but PM me if you ever get a chance and let me know how it is to really live there.

And name calling does not prove a point.

The poster explained the reasons for his claim. And after considering the reasons for his remark, his statement seems to have some merit. In certain ways, it is a downgrade I guess, but only from a certain point of view. In many ways, the FJ is an upgrade too (despite the body rips.). So I can appreciate his view in relation to my current viewpoint.

Looking at his post history, is he really a Troll?
