The "fender skirts" aren't much more than the thin metal shields "protecting" the front of the under carriage (except they support some misc. devices and the battery)!

They are more than that, if bent pretty well with a big bulg they move the entire fender back and narrow the gap between the front door and the fender. Once replaced and put back together the gap is back to specs. If you have big bulges check th door gap too.

I have selected the "Doccuments only" review by a 3 member panel. I will submit my own info against Toyota's photo's and doccuments, and they will decide.
I think with enough pics and info, I can get a fair hearing. If it falls through, I will Tube and rollcage this truck so it lasts, and hang the fenders back on it. I hate to do all that crap to make a solid truck, but I want to get back to 4 wheeling, and not have to check under the hood for cracks after every run.
I am getting statements from my insurance company, and a senior insurance estimator, as well as a reputable body shop about the relative non-existance of this problem on any other vehicle.
That, along with the littany of cases doccumented on here (with pictures) should alert the panel to the widespread nature of this problem, and then compare that to Toyota's weak claim that it is just "frame impact" or a bumper that caused this.
Anyone wanting to forward me thier testimony or doccuments from any body shop or engineers would be appreciated.
I think it would be great if all of us who are headed for arbitration would share our packets of info. The documentation previous folks used would also help those who follow.
cheers,
dale

I hope they will return at least some of what I am sending in. I am making 5 3 ring binders with color copies of each picture with circles and arrows and captions at the bottom of each one ......

You get the idea.
They didn't even really look at my binder that much. They just flipped through them and asked Toyota what they wanted to see happen, what I wanted to see happen, and ruled in my favor. Good luck! Stick it to em!

Here are some fender tear resources. I hope you find them useful. Please file complaints with your state attorney general and with the NHTSA. Lets make it impossible for Toyota to ignore this plague. http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forum...resources.html
I was at surf and turf at Pismo this weekend and came down a dune about 7-10 mph during the night and ended up nose diving the driver side atleast that is what best describes why my front tuberware bumper has a crack and my license plate got smashed. My problem is that the driver side crush zones was slightly compressed with obvious signs of tear in the metal. The front fender was removed due to the fender being smashed up to the door making it to difficult to open driver door. What should I do? Try toyota and ask for apron replacement, or should I go with my insurance?
