Yeah I have a buddy with an after-market front bumper and I always heard it rattling when we were on the trails. After some examination we saw where the rattling noise is the front bumper hitting the body right above the front bumper.
Sure it is small hits but if you think about it it has to be hundreds or thousands of hits all the time he is on the trails.
That could also lead to fatigue failure! So I don't think you have to even hit the bumper hard.
I just sent him a PM to check his body!

400 post...now we are down to the hecklers.....what took so long???
So how will we be able to find what comes of this without having to read 4 thousand posts? i.e. will Bernd post a separate, high profile news thread with what Toyota intends to do for him, with a proper title so that I will actually open the thread?
This doesn't make it very appealing to get an aftermarket bumper... it just doesn't.

But if skid plates help, will promote a package deal... I still haven't seen anyone with aftermarket skid plates if they have had this issue.

Hello chewey46 it appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

My dad is still bugging me to get better skids... just need to get the husband on board. I guess there is something to be said for remaining stock until issues get worked out. I've never been a fan of being a guinea pig.
Does anyone know if the blue All Pro FJ or Rockcrawlers FJ or Demellos FJ that get used a lot and are/were used for testing have any problems with the crack?
yikes. Ok, without having to read this entire thread, does anyone know how many people on the forum this has happened to? Does the consensus seem to be that it IS due to modifications (bumper, etc)? thanks, -M
Now you wouldn't want me to buy you "Cliffs Notes" rather than the Full copy of Shakespeare, would you?
