Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

I read most pages and skimmed the others in this thread.

I still have the FJ Cruiser brochure for the 2007 model,
and on the cover page is a b package voodoo with OEM sliders and stock tires.

The pic is of the FJ doing some rugged terrain and leaning hard over to the driverside .( real nice posing photo)

I dont care if they placed the fj into it`s (OMG this stock rig can go anywhere!)
pic ontop of some big boulders whit a crane.

The message from the photo is "It`s BADass mean and will go anywhere.

Wait there is more info other than the pic on the front!

Why it`s a Voodoo in the lead with a sun fusion taking up the rear!, of
what looks a washed out riverbed !!?

The other pics are spec pics with a white background of empty space.

No roads no highways, hell not even a mall parking lot pic.

They are promoting this as a OFF ROAD Ride

Now for the write up from the brochure. I`ll paraphrase it .

since it is the heir to the OFFROAD throne that was occupied
for a remarkable 24 years Landcruiser FJ40.

tough as nails OFF ROAD capabilities are totally 21st century.

As to where it can take ,there are no boundaries.

Wonder what the look on the service dudes face would be if you showed him
that brochure.

I`ll be keeping and eye out for wrinkles also .

Loving a car is very similar (except you don't have to use "protection"). Once the honeymoon period is over, you start to notice the drips in your driveway and the intractible twist in the steering wheel and that the rear bumper sags. You have to get past that. You have to develop a RELATIONSHIP.
You're describing a relationship with a Land Rover, people date Toyota's because they don't want any high-maintenance issues.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

The history of the advertising campaign proves it was focused at the off road crowd first. Many of us even went to Trail Teams events to wheel with the teams as they showed us how well the vehicle was engineered for the dirt. They also went as far as to say it was the most off road capable vehicle Toyota had ever made. It is going to be interesting on how they handle this issue, they are going have to find a way either to fix it, or as they did with some of the 22r engines(my 1983 for example) warranty it for the lifetime of the original owner owning it. Whatever comes of it, I think with the amount of people having trouble here, it is time to get the DMV involved. Just linking this thread would be a huge help in getting action started.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Our FJ AT was manufactured 01/07. The part in question looks just like the post above. We have 7950 miles purchased April 7th ish. Lifted OME Medium last weekend both ends. All-Pro bumper, skids and M8000 winch still in garage. The warp with the steel edge is just like AF Chiefs, in slightly back at the corner, but no visible bend or crack.

i just rechecked my ride again today. my built date was in 1/07 and the inner walls look just like yours, with the extra holes and dimples. thanks for pointing out the differences. if no one has the bulging or cracking with the newer engine bay walls, then i will move forward with my plans to lift.

Re: Engine Bay Body Rips

Sorry for coming in late and I sure someone has already mentioned it, but has this been identified as production year issue (model 06 versus model 07).
