Re: Engine Bay Body Rips
more info today:
i just got back from the dealership and the body shop. they told me that there were 2 toyota reps looking at my truck and a japanese rep looking at it as well. the body shop will be disassembling the front of the truck tomorrow to see if they can find the source of the problem.
i talked to the body guy for about an hour and we discussed some of the possibilities as to why this is occuring. there are a few possibilities, but we cannot be sure until my truck is taken apart and some inspection is done.
i was told that either a tsb or a recall will be in order for this issue.
now the kind of bad part. it will be a minimum of 6-8 weeks until a solution is come upon.
everyone needs to sit tight and let toyota do what they need to do to come to their solution.
sit tight guys....the ball has begun to roll and has already gained a lot of speed....

Good news, I will taking mine in on Friday to show the dealership, it will be interesting to see if they have heard anything about it. Thanks for the update!!

The 6-8 weeks is hardly a concern. Especially since I was told by the Toyota rep who did my FJ's inspection that this is not an existing safety or structural concern.
And, I just as soon let Toyota take whatever time is required to discover the true source of the problem and completely solve the problem, once and for all.
Again MudLovingFJ . . . . . great news and superb report. Thank you.
Mudloving FJ, YOU are currently our collective HERO!!!!!
Thanks for the update. We'll all stay tuned for sure!

I agree Steve, I would rather let Toyota figure out the source and fix it, however long it takes. Good job MudLoving FJ

Thanks, That makes me feel a little better. So would a TSB just notify the dealers that there is a problem and to fix at their descretion or tell them to fix if the problem exists? (My dealer does not like their customers)
