A\C Issues! Loud vibrations and more help!

Ok, recently when I start to go slow (foot off the gas) or get out of a parking lot, or in stop and go traffic, something behind the glove box starts to rattle and vibrate...the second I press the A\C off, that noise goes away, I checked behind there and couldn't find anything loose, but the noise is sparatic, off and on normally it happens in reverse, drive, etc when your foot is NOT on the gas.

I was driving by Mcdonalds, and I heard another VERY strange sound, it almost sounded like crickets and was coming from under the car...at the same time that annoying vibrating sound from the A\C was happening, so I turn off the A\C and the weird cricket noise (which almost sounds like a fan-belt made of cricket) goes away, so clearly it IS the A\C I have singled that out and I verified it with a member on here, and a few buddies of mine, but what in the hell could be causing it? I took it to Toyota today and lord behold, they could NOT reproduce the sound, but the second I drive off the lot, it starts doing it, so I went back and asked someone to go with a test drive with me but they said all the techys that were working on my car had left...so it was pointless.

What could be causing this? My father was saying that the A\C has some belt or something, so that COULD be the cricket noise, now the second thing is the vibration...any ideas guys? I need something to go with because it is annoying as HELL when you have a problem like this and your FJ hates you and just doesn't want to reproduce the damn sound (it's totally random!)

Thanks in advance, hopefully SOMEONE else has had a problem like this...

Not here, you should pay a visit to your dealership though.

I hate that, does it happen immediately when you start driving or does the vehicle need to warm up?

You might just try recording the sound.

It doesn't seem to do it in the morning, it seems to do it in the afternoon after it's gotten hot, I'm assuming because the A\C has to work harder

Re: A\C Issues! Loud vibrations and more help!

I've got a similar issue, where if I don't drive the vehicle for 3-4 days, start it, ease off the clutch while in first and then kick on the AC I get a quick rumble and vibration that comes from what seems like just behind and and under the glove box (under the hood of course). Kind of bothersome but I don't think its anything too major, I plan to talk to the service guy when I go in for the 10k service (700 miles left). Anyone have any thoughts?

Meh...the only problem is if they can't reproduce it, they aren't going to fix it. What I'm going to do is just drive around town, once it starts happening pull in, leave the car on, and get one them to go around the block so they can hear it. Whenever I turn off the car at the dealer, and then back on, and they get it, it's gone, the FJ has a evil f***in mind!
