Exclamation A Clunk/Jolt(Lurch) when FJ comes to a stop.

Has anyone exp. a Clunk followed by a Jolt or Lurching motion from there FJ just after you come t a stop? Feels like you are being rear ended or like the FJ is come out of 4X4 to 4X2. Get this driving around town in 4X2 mode.

Yeah. I get it from time to time. Had flashbacks of my Moms Audi 5000.

It's normal. There are at least 5 threads about it.

I've had this happen as well. Good to know it isn't anything serious.

It's just the metal bending and ripping Gremlins trying to escape. Nothing to worry about.

Re: A Clunk/Jolt(Lurch) when FJ comes to a stop.

Hey Tony,

It not just an FJ thing, it's a Toyota thing. My '02 Taco did it too. I'd feel this "whump" just as I was coming to a stop.

The cause was explained to me, but now I can't remember exactly what it is. Anyway, don't sweat it, like others have already said, it's normal.

Common problem with a very easy fix. Use a grease gun to lube both drive shafts. There is a grease fitting on each.
