Exclamation Leaky Roof? Post your leaky roof problems here!

OK,
I've heard about the water leaks in the seatbelt area, but I experienced a leak I hadn't heard about yet. We had a torrential downpour toaday, the FJ was outside in it for over a couple hours...

The result was a water soaked headliner all along the front of the roof. I believe the cause is from the top of the windshiled/roof seam...it would appear to be an inadequate seal! Needless to say, I'll be letting my dealer know about it on Monday...Toyota needs to be aware and do something about the roof/door seals or the warranty issues will start piling up fast...

Ironically. I did not, and have not yet, experienced the previously mentioned seat belt area wetness.

The area I live in only gets about 15 inches of rain a year, so it's not too much of a concern for me, but those of you in wetter parts of the country...keep an eye out.

We have had a lot of heavy rain over the past 3 weeks and havent had an issue with leaking. I am sure that it can and will be remedied. BTW, do you have a roof rack?

Yep, forgot to mention that might be the cause as well. Checked the bolts and they're tight, so who knows...

Re: Leaky Roof

Did you have the rack installed at the port or dealer?

Re: Leaky Roof

A quick check might help your peace of mind and the Integrity of your dealership....set the fan switch on high with the fresh air on, hose down the vehicle, and spray soapy water on suspected areas? If air leaks out/water will leak in...More of a high-tech approach, use electronic ears on suspected areas...good luck!

Good idea, works for tires...why not a roof!

Re: Leaky Roof

Sorry for your troubles. We know rain here in Portland. I have the port installed rack. No water leaks anywhere. Has the windshield ever been replaced since leaving the factory, for example damaged on the truck going to your dealership and it was replaced without proper sealing?

That might be a possiblity? Do the soapy-water test!

Re: Leaky Roof

Nope, no damage, original factory windshield. I'll check it when it's dry.
