Re: New FJ's, Check Your Lug Nuts! They may be too loose or too tight.
Is it really that important? When I change my wheel, I just stand on the wrench to tight the wheel. The Lug Nuts are supposed to tight themselves while driving, aren't they?

If you have steel wheels that's OK I guess but with alloy wheels it's a different animal.

I don't believe I would rely on the lugs tightening themselves. If you have an old Mopar 1960's -70's they left handed thread, which would possibly not come off as easy as most which are right handed. Torque them to be safe then check them after driving.
thanks

No one has posted here for a while but wanted to say thanks for the heads up! I checked mine after reading this post and 3 on the rr were loose and 2 on the rf were as well. all others were mad tight. did not torque but will tomorrow.
Re: New FJ's, Check Your Lug Nuts! They may be too loose or too tight.
My friend just got a new Tundra, told him to check his lugnuts, same thing, nearly 200 ft/lbs on one side, 20 to 30 on the other.
Isn't this one of the "Initial delivery" items that make up one of the ratings of a manufacturer?
It seems like such an easy thing to have a full time delivery quality assurance mechanic at each dealer to verify these types of things and fluid levels etc prior to delivery. I would bet it would save a few tires falling off each year, might save money in the long run?
Re: New FJ's, Check Your Lug Nuts! They may be too loose or too tight.
Just a heads up...
I don't mean to drag this out from the depths of nowhere, but when doing my OME lift yesterday, we found that my lugs had been put on with 20-30 pounds. I hadn't checked them since I bought the car (1,898 miles on it).
Might be a good idea for you people with new (or newer) FJ's to CHECK YOUR LUGS!
