Exclamation New FJ's, Check Your Lug Nuts! They may be too loose or too tight.

Re: New Fj's, Check Your Lug Nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is one of the first things I checked because the dealer installed the locking lug nuts. They were ok but I still re-torqued them to spec. just in case.

Re: New Fj's, Check Your Lug Nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

After getting passed by my left front wheel once I am highly paranoid about lug nut toque. and don't trust people who use air hammers to either have their devices in calibration, or know how much danger they are putting people in by not being careful about over (or under) torquing lug nuts.

When we added the wheel locks, all lug nuts were torqued to the recommended spec...

Page 320 of the Owners Manual says to torque to 85 foot pounds.

I checked mine. Now what's this about wheels falling off?

Re: New Fj's, Check Your Lug Nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having had a wheel come off my Tundra during rush hour traffic on I-10, I now check the torque regularly. I'm surprised by how often I find some lugs to be loose.
