I call my dealer parts dept. and they cant find a part number for the aux. light switch on my dash and acts like, well just forget your project idea.
Then he trys to give me lessons in chassis electrical how the switch will burn up if connected to the lights directly,I know all this stuff please just find the switch Ahole !!!
I found these switches on the net from craigs list but the dealer its a big mysterious part. by the way 75.00 ea. I was hoping the dealer might be less.
There are a number of vendors here that can get you these. Matt @ trdsource can get them.
You can use the search function of the forum to find the part # of the switch you want and then order online via 1sttoyota.com .. if their part lookup doesn't work, call them, they can order it via phone.

Just go to another dealer if you can. Sparks Toyota in Houston? Dallas? (somewhere in Texas) will mail order you parts too.
Also, you don't necessarily have to go with the stock FJ switch for lights, in most cases, some of the older (and far, far less expensive) Tacoma switches will work just as well, which is what I did.
This is very interesting... So that older switch fits well in the FJ hole? And are all the electrical connectors spades? No crazy round posts or other odd connection requirements?

Once you pop out the blank button in the fj, you will see a sleeve that extends into the dash (it is part of the molded plastic of the dash). After about a half inch, the sleeve protrudes inward a bit, making the back part of this sleeve a little narrower (it gives the FJ button something to lock on so it doesnt fall out). The Taco switch does not get smaller at teh back of the switch, so you will nee do trim out the sleev where it protrudes in. Since all of this trimming is done in a recessed area, even if you botch it up, no one will ever see it because the Taco switch fits so snugly in slot to begin with.
Hope that makes sense....you will know what I am talking about once you pop the blank out.
