So, I finally hit 30K miles in the FJ and still absolutely love the truck.
I do find myself looking at a lot of Defender 90's online, but I still love driving the FJ.
I took the FJ to the dealer for it's 30K mile checkup which hammered me for me than $300. I knew it was going to be pricey, but I want the Yota to last for a long while.
My question is, what do you guys think about the 15K, 30K, 60K checkups?? How necessary are these for maintaining a long life for the FJ? I don't mind dropping the cash every once in a while, but I want to know that it is a good sound investment (I know cars are not investments), but you know what I mean.
I think it matters what they actually do? Lots of times they check your brake fluid , transmission, all that stuff you can do yourself and then make up something like the flux capacitor is broken and charge you extra lol.......

I think it's pretty important to do the interval PM's on your FJ.
Just get out the maint booklet and tick off all of the various actions necessary.
It'll cost you a fraction of what the dealer does...but then again, how valuable is your time? I do it myself because I like to tinker...but I'm also pretty b-z. And keep in mind that you don't have to do it all at once. But definitely follow the manual...at a minimum.
I'm at 44,000 miles and love the crap out of my FJ! Only thing negative I have to say is that I have a sharp piece of wire protruding from the back of the drivers seat. Took it to the dealer and of course it's an out of warranty item now that I'm past 36,000.

You may want to see if someone has a spare seat to sell you. I know CO Jeff swapped out his seats, and he is out of the country, but you could try and PM him and see if he still has one he could sell you.
