"Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

Wondering if anyone has heard this. There is a distinct "click" that happens when I roll for the first time after start. Everytime. I can shut down, turn the engine on, put into gear, and when I hit a specific speed (?) there is a click. Almost like a solenoid. The noise comes from the driver side, where he drivers left knee is behind the panel inside. Maybe it occurs when the speedo engages? Like 1-2mph. I thought it may be the door lock solenoid not throwing the locks like my chevy did when I put the trans. into gear. Apparently the FJ (or at least mine) does not lock the doors automatically at speed or transmission setting. Really no big deal, but I do find myself saying "click" right before it occurs. Does anyone else hear this, or any ideas?

Re: "Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

its most likely a relay for something in the car. most likely activates a lockout feature like reverse when the car is moving at a certain speed forward.

1. Do you have the VIP alarm?
2. Do you have the MT or AT?
3. Does someone else drive your FJ in between you driving it (someone shorter or taller)?

Re: "Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

No VIP alarm. I'm the only driver. A/T. It's definitely coming from behind the dash, below and to left of the column (drivers left knee panel). Definitely not a seat track engaging or anything like that. Almost sounds like a Hobbs meter starting.
Just a strange click. I have had so many "ideas", but can't limit any one of them.
Door lock solenoid, data recorder cycling on, speedo electronics. I have no clue!
No lights, just the click when I start and roll for the first time after the start. I do notice a correlation between the speedo registration and the noise. I should try to keep rolling at a snail pace and see. We don't have auto engaging door locks do we? I think the answer is no, but...

Re: "Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

I get the same thing. Sounds kinds of like auto door locking, but it's not. I figure it's some relay opening or closing, triggered by movement. As mentioned, it may be the reverse lock-out relay.

Re: "Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

"Its the accumulator in the brake system, releasing psi. NORMAL....It always goes through a test mode at startup, and some times it will click after the vehicle reaches 0-2mph. The other click, when you depress the brake pedal is the SHIFT INTERLOCK that allows you to engage it into gear for the ATM models."

Re: "Click" Heard when FJ starts rolling.

Mine does it too, and has doen so since day one...The '08 Sandstorm, '07 BC, and the '07 SF all did it too...I'm convinced it's nothing wrong, and probably just a computer checking or resetting itself when our rigs go into drive
