Question Drivers Seat Movement

Hello Fellow FJ'ers

2007 Titanium

I've noticed that when I turn rather sharply to the left, my drivers seat seems to knock or jump a little. I'm not a big guy so weight isn't an issue. I checked out the seats right side hinge area (where the metal rod mechanism joins with the seat assembly) and noticed a small space between the welded bracket and hinge.
I placed my finger in the hinge area and pushed the seat side-to-side. It felt like there was a little "play" in that area.
I plan on taking it to the dealer. Being a total "layman" I think a spot weld might fix the problem but I'm not sure.
Any other FJ owners experienced this seat issue?

Also, I have major paint issues - rust blister on the swing gate, side panels showing surface spots. Pretty disappointing for a 1 year old vehicle.
Any others having the same paint problems?

Cheers.

Re: Drivers Seat Movement

the seat moves, yes. i don't notice it much, but it does.

the a pillars are covered with white zits, but i attribute it to 60,000 harsh miles and never washing it.

Re: Drivers Seat Movement

My seat does the same thing. I read another post complaining about this and the person took it to the dealer. The dealer told them it was a design flaw and that there was nothing to that can be done about it. If you find a fix, let us know!

Re: Drivers Seat Movement

I have had this happen.
This might not be the same problem you are experiencing but it maybe as well.
Whenever i move the front-to-back position, it never locks into place and it will have some play to it. It is only when i push back with my legs that it fully locks into position. Hope it is this easy to fix
