Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

Not having a 4wd FJ , but having a lot of fwd cars, I have to ask.....Did you pull the boot back and clean the area that the clamp holds onto? Also how wide of a clamp did you use? There are crimp on bands that can be bought. You will also need the crimping pliers. (I have some, but I'm in So.Cal. Otherwise I would be at your door with them now for you to borrow. )

Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

Thanks for the heads up. Believe me since my truck park on the steep driveway with wheels turned all the way I check that every day while I am enjoying my coffee. I even spray 303 on the boots to keep them flexible so it won't crack later on I did hear quite a few people had problems with their clamps for some reason.

Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

I had the same problem on the passenger side a little while ago. The dealer fixed it under warrenty. Now my warrenty is up, so I need to manage this myself. Thanks for the heads-up and quick fix idea.
I have basically the same lift, but this started before the lift went on, so I don't think that had anything to do with it. I think the clamps are to blame.

Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

I may do this hose clamp and grease add thing,
Any updates DRAGON ?... How is it holding up ?...
Any boot damage from the new clamps ?... Also,
I would really appreciate some picts of the FIX

If you have seen a few posts of mine recently
over the last couple of months... This is on both
my inner boots, driver and pass' sides... It started
seaping at the shaft end(small) boot, and then
the large end... I have lost some grease that is
for sure and will shoot some more back in...

Great Post... TY... REPS for you !...
(ohh crap, can't give them)... ...

Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

Great to know, just another PM item to add to the list. Let's see, change oil, grease, check skid plate bolts, chassis bolts, fluid level, ect. Oh and now check CV boots.

It's holding up great. I just drove 1000 miles and am going to bed, but will post up pics in the next day or so.

Re: CV Boot Warning (cinch band loose / grease leak).

When I had an '04 Tundra, it had the same problem after putting a 2" d-hoe/Icon lift on it. The solution above with hose clamps worked for me as well on the tundra and that was for at least 5000 miles. Don't have the problem with the FJC, but it is stock
