TT SE Vibration

I just purchased a TT SE and the vehicle vibrates when it hits ~30 mph up to ~50 mph. Do you think it just needs a simple wheel balance? I noticed it on my way home from the dealer that is 80 miles from my house. I am going to take it to a local dealer in the morning, I was just wondering if anybody else has experienced this.

They'll tell you that's all it needs, but actually you have either a defective tire or defective wheel. One or the other is not round.

Buy yourself a dial indicator and magnet mount, and figure out which one it is by yourself. My FJC is perfectly smooth, no shimmy or vibration, up to 85 mph.

Re: TT SE Vibration

I had the same problem .... took it back .... some wheel weights had fallen off. They rebalanced and everything was fine.

Re: TT SE Vibration

Sounds like a wheel weight may have fallen off.

Re: TT SE Vibration

One of the tires was defective. They replaced it and now it runs fine.

Re: TT SE Vibration

Aparently they are getting good at fixing this issue. A lot of people with the TRD, myself included, have had this problem. They grudgingly took my advice on how to fix it, which I got here, but the problem has since returned and their excuse is that "its not a luxury vehicle". NO S@#$ buddy. But I do know it shouldnt do that. Check out the other posts on this topic.

Re: TT SE Vibration

I think there has been a couple of other new TT owners that have complained about their wheels being out of balance. Maybe they will chime in. I know I have BFG's on regular allows and they are not quite as perfectly smooth as the Dunlops but still not as bad as the feeling of being out of balance. Also, some BFG's may be running a higher air pressure giving you more vibration from the road to the steering wheel. I don't know what Toyota sets them at from the factory though. I know I now run a higher air pressure and can feel more vibration to the steering wheel just from the road than I did with my stock tires.
