Front doors WON'T lock

Hi,

I've just discovered the front doors on my FJ won't lock--either with the key, manually with the key, or even manually inside the FJ. Lock clicks forward then automatically comes back to unlock.

Rear door/hatch locks fine. Double checked to make sure the rear window is closed. No 'door ajar' light is on.....

Any thoughts?

thanks,

RRS

Re: Front doors WON'T lock

did you leave something ON, lights?, is it in park??? I had this happen once and the car was not in park. or the keys were in the ignition something like that! safety feature, so you won't leave the vehicle in its current state. Hope you figure it out! it took me a few minutes lol

i think when i had it happen i hadn't put the thing in park! i had it in R and then stopped the engine and when i tried to lock it wouldn't, i know the lights already have a timer on them for safety reason, i still turn mine off !!

Re: Front doors WON'T lock

Will the FJ turn on? If so turn the FJ on for 30 seconds to a minute. Then cut it off and try it again. Could be as simple as resetting the computer.

Re: Front doors WON'T lock

Tried all of these except disconnecting the battery; will try that this afternoon. Have started and driven it multiple times, so I've 'rebooted', but still no luck. Also strange why I can't even manually get 'em to lock--thinks its off to the dealer tomorrow .

Thanks
