Hello, I have an automatic with the 4x4 joystick on the center console. It's been vibrating more then i think is normal lately. When you start it or shut it down the joystick rattles a lot more then when in normal driving mode. It's like you can feel the driveshaft through it. It's in 2x4 and I havn't used 4x4 that much. Any ideas? Do other fj crusiser owners notice this vibration??
Don't worry about it. It's normal. when you start and stop the motor things move. The stick comes up through the floor and through a rubber seal. If things move that are solidly connected you will see the movement. You don't see the trans stick move because it is connected through a cable linkage system, but the 4wd stick comes up from the transfer case.
Although Nala is a 2wd, I have driven 4wd trucks at work for years. Everyone of them has had a 4wd stick that moved.

Normal, normal, normal. Mine vibrates so much I have to occasionally twist the knob tighter so that it doesn't drive me nuts making a vibration noise as I'm driving down the road.

Yea it is normal like everyone above said. I put my cell phone in the indention of th 4x4 cover sometimes, and it gets to vibrating so much I have to move my phone.
That is normal, and it is a shifter not a joystick Gamer are ya? LOL

What's fun is to watch it when you're crawling a tough rock garden, or wildly thrashing the rig down rough roads... gives you an idea how much the body moves around in relation to that other stuff. It moves around quite a bit, the cut-out for it in the console is the perfect size!
