Re: HELP....have a new noise

No, but we can add it to my purring sound. I'll try to reproduce it on mine. Ron

PS: Something at about the same place produces a whirring sound on my FJ. Someone mentioned that it could be brake/ABS related.

Re: HELP....have a new noise

Could it be the fan motor or the compressor?

Re: HELP....have a new noise

hmmm possibly.........ok went back out to investigate, it seems that noise only happens when air is on and the recyled air button is on.......it runs for a bit, then there is a slight faint click.....then it sounds like the engine revs down.....could be the compressor building up?

like I said its not a loud noise by any means, but I noticed it sitting there silent and kept hearing it every couple minutes.....was just annoying

Re: HELP....have a new noise

Its probably your belt chirping when the compressor engages. spray a lil wd40 on your belt while its running and see if the noise changes.

Re: HELP....have a new noise

ok sprayed some WD40 on the belt...will see how that works out.

its weird though I guess when the compressor engages and disengages it feels like the engine reves up and then down....thats when I hear the faint chirp......it almost sounds like it is coming through the speaker.....is that possible?

Re: HELP....have a new noise

Someone posted about this. I wish I can find the thread. It's suppose to be something completely normal. I think it may have been RoverGGM that posted the answer.

If the noise is intermittent, it may be that you're hearing the braking system pump running. It pressurizes the system at startup and whenever needed while the engine is running (after braking).
