rattling doors

Anyone else having their doors make slight rattling noises? This noise wasn't there when I first got the Truck, but after 20000 miles it seems they have loosened up, and they shimmy when driving over bumps? This isn't a rattle like something is loose in the door, but the door itself shimmy's over the bumps.

anyone else have this issue and is it something you guys think the dealer can take care of?

Re: rattling doors

I haven't heard of a door rattle complaint in months! First, be absolutely sure that it isn't the seatbelt adjuster. Sometimes they creep up to the top and rattle (sounds like the door rattling). If it's not that, then take it to the dealer. I think there was some sort of fix for it...

Re: rattling doors

My passenger door rattles over bumps. If I pull on the pass side 3rd door, it is ever so slightly loose. But the driver side is tight. I assume its just a latch adjustment. I will try to do it myself, and if I cant, ill take it in. Check your 3rd door, by tugging on it, it should have zero play. if it moves at all, I think you'll get a rattle.

good luck, Mike

Re: rattling doors

you sure its the door and not the inside panel making noise? Because i had a really bad door rattle on my wrangler sounded like it was coming off everytime i went over a bump.

Re: rattling doors

This is the one and only complaint that I have taken my FJ back to the dealer for...
Within the first 5,000 miles, I had a similar problem to what mikedege mentioned (slightly loose door when wiggled). They "adjusted" the hinge and I am now just beyond two years and have had no recurrences.

Re: rattling doors

My doors rattle like mad... but they're still attached to the truck, so I'm happy. I think my entire body is severly twisted and that might not be helping, but that's a different thread.

I put a really noisy HiLift on the roof over the driver's door, so I don't notice the door rattle too much.

Re: rattling doors

Hm....my door panels never rattled, and of course they don't now as I have two layers of dynamat extreme on the metal and on the plastic door cover I have one layer....the thing that RATTLES is actually the glass when going over bumps at times. Very odd, but I don't see a fix for it really.
