Power steering issues

Ive got an 08 with OME heavies front and rear. She has been aligned properly, (by myself) and has been driving like a dream for over a thousand miles. Just recently I have noticed an intermittent lack of power assist in the steering, seems to happen relative to steering wheel position. After about 1/4 turn it takes more effort to get over the 'hump' then the assist returns. No obvious signs of damage, haven't even been offroad in 500 miles. PS level is correct, no pump noise. I avoid the dealership the the plague, any suggestions? I've been searching like mad all morning and haven't found any similar issues.... Anyone framiliar with this PS system??

Thanks
-Joey

Re: Power steering issues

Call Yoda Masters in Corona Ca. They may know what's up.

What size tires do you have? Have you gone to a larger one(tire)? also check Pressure in tires?? Those are the only things I can suggest to look at, otherwise call an indie shop like the one above.

Re: Power steering issues

Stock BFG tires, correct pressure. It feels like feedback from inside the rack, maybe an internal leak in one of the rams. I may pull it apart and rebuild it myself.

Re: Power steering issues

My son has had the same problem with his steering. The local dealer replaced the power steering pump and it seemed to resolve the problem.
