OEM Struts - leaking

Looking for a little help here.

I have an 07 FJ, had the stock suspension on it until last week. During that time I took it off road a total of 4-5 times. Moderate trails only.

I had the OME 2.5" kit put on last week. Was told that my OEM shocks were leaking pretty bad.

Is that unusual? Shouldn't that be a warranty issue?

Dealer said that one had a dent in it so they claim no warranty, the other was just leaking.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks!

Wow never heard of that. Do you need the stock stuff or what. You could try a different dealer to try and get them to replace it. But they might look and see you have a lift and tell you to go f off.

Re: OEM Struts - leaking

You want warranty replacement on parts you removed for upgrade?

If you wan't them replaced, reinstall the original suspension with the struts and then try a different dealer.

I agree that the original struts should not leak though. What are they leaking?

Re: OEM Struts - leaking

Someone else had this issue about 9 months ago with an "07" as well. Search early posts you may find it. I've been watching mine as well as the fender bulge.

Where did you take it, Steveson East or West?

I bet West, if so take it to East, they seem to be a little more understanding of the wheeler community and problems we come across.

Re: OEM Struts - leaking

I took it to Stevinson West, it's very close to home...I'll ask East at the Havana Crawl Saturday.

I just wanted to keep the original parts in case I needed to sell the FJ, or decided that I don't want to use a step ladder every time I want to get in the FJ!
