CV Boot

Took the FJ to have the CV boot replaced, I asked when I made the appt. if that was under warranty, they said yes. When they were finished, they gave me a bill and told me to check out. I reminded them that I was told the CV was under warranty. He says well we found a stick in the boot and thats not a fault in the boot itself. I said well, the FJ is advertised as a fully capable offroad vehicle when you drive it off the lot, and I went off roading. He said I think I can take care of it, I said yeah, I think you need to.
Anyone else had that trouble, and if I'm gonna have to face this kind of trouble with every repair, I'm going to find another toyota service.

Re: CV Boot

You did the right thing. Mostly the dealer will try to refrain from the warranty work unless you stand your ground. Every incident could come down to having to have a discussion or maybe even a letter written to prove your point. Their first response will be "No" and many people will accept it. Stick to your guns as you did and your warranty will cover many things

Re: CV Boot

I am surprised they paid for it, having a stick through the cv boot is not a manufacturer defect. I am glad they took care of it for you.

Glad to hear they took care of it. Did they say anything about you having it lifted?

Re: CV Boot

Poking a hole in your CV boot, causing it to be replaced is not a warranty, no question. You are a lucky Toyota customer and received excellent customer service since they certainly did not have to cover it. Be thankful of the service manager wanting to keep their customer happy...

Re: CV Boot

I was under the impression that dealers just billed any warranty work to Toyota corp. Does is really matter if they fix things free under warranty with in reason?
