Question "New Problem: A/C light"

Hi all,
Find this problem today.
I set the Air Flow Selector to the "Winshield", light on the A/C button is off, but strangely enough, I found my air condition was still running. Anyone else has this problem?

Re: "New Problem: A/C light"

Nope, its not a problem. Auto manufacture are starting to incorperate A/C fuctions with the "defrost" mode of climate control. This is due to the fact that the A/C help get the "moisture" out of the air to help/aid in defrosting your windows.

So the short answer is, Its normal.

Yep - Air Conditioning actually does two things - temp and moisture.

The windshield is normally the defrost/defog position so if when you set it there the AC is doing its moisture thing.

And I don't like it. In the summer....yes, in the winter when I'm using heat, no.

I agree....never liked that American cars did it (one of the many reasons I never owned one

though I will say that when you're all wet coming back from a snowboarding trip, you need the AC even in the winter to get rid of all that moisture...

Would that be the defrost position when you say windshield? If so, the a/c compressor is supposed to be on to help clear the windsheild. At least that is how every other car I've owned operates. Toyo should be the same.

Well actually, it helps out the life of your compressor, because if it was never used all winter long the comperssor clutch and pully can bind up because of all of the moisture and cold when it is winter time, because it's not being used. It can cause it to be very very loud when you want to use it in the summer time. So as much of a pain it seems it actually for the better and the life of your "yoter" or any car for that matter.
