Murfreesboro

Folks.. I normally spend a week in Murfreesboro every July, my wife has meetings there, with nothing to do during the days. Any good 4X4 shops/attractions around? Thanks Ron

Re: Murfreesboro

It's an OK town to spend a few days in. The only downside is the July weather! Sandy has marketing meetings (high school teacher stuff) every year at MTSU and they put us up for the week. She doesn't like to travel alone, so I just make a little vacation out of it. She only "meets" a few hours each day. I just hang out and drive around the area, later we have a few restaurants that we like.. Did you attend MTSU? Ron

PS: Great package stores there as well.. Lots and lots of import beer.

Re: Murfreesboro

I spent 2 years at MTSU before transferring and finishing up at Lipscomb University in Nashville. What else do you plan to do around Murfreesboro? I might be able to recommend some other attractions and restaurants.

Re: Murfreesboro

Thanks.. Well I've toured all the civil war sites already and would be open to most anything. We normally eat at the Clay Pit (Indian), Demo's and thr big Chinese place down from there. That's about all we've discovered. I'm looking for things to see/explore during the day on my own and any good dining spots in the evening. BBQ would be just peachy! as would most anything. Ron

Re: Murfreesboro

For good ribs, wings, burgers, etc. I would recommend Toot's. 860 NW Broad St Murfreesboro, TN 37129-2740. Phone: (615) 898-1301. As far as BBQ, most of the really good BBQ is in Nashville but I hear that the Slick Pig BBQ is pretty good - 1920 E Main St Murfreesboro, TN 37130-4012. Phone: (615) 890-3583.

As far as things to see, it sounds like you have about seen it all in Murfreesboro. I would recommend coming to Nashville to see a few things. It's only about 30-45 minutes west of Murfreesboro. You could check out the County Music Hall of Fame, Ryman, downtown attractions. Or make a run to Lynchburg and do a Jack Daniels distillery tour.
