Jeshua, I can't read =). The bottom line is, it can be done at home by anyone who is comfortable turning wrenches. Make sure it gets aligned after you put the lift on. For some people that can't turn a wrench, the prices quoted are about right. You have to remember that those companies charge the $$$ are going to stand behind the install and warranty it.
I'm thinking if you were in some place more remote like say... Wyoming, you'll get more people helping out. As litigious as Cali is, a lot of people are weary of inviting people over to their house, and not "certified" to "help" someone else. Just a lot of liablity issues. Cruiserlarry has it right. Pros are paid for the expertise and peace of mind they provide. It another thing if friends are helping and you know them very well...

Frogeye, I would gladly take you up on that, but sd is a good 2 hours from me. Everyone, a million thank you's but it looks like I'm gonna be sucking it up, selling some crack and paying for installs. I'm also getting bumpers+winch so it doesn't look like I'll realistically be able to borrow someone's house and tools for a week. However, I look forward to meeting everyone in person at the donut shop meet! Thanks again, mods can delete this at their convenience.
well maybe next time then. I wont be at the donut shop so we will have to meet some other time maybe on the trails. But a donut does sound good.

I can offer you my garage, air tools, jacks, stands etc if you want to do it yourself.
I'm in Agoura Hills which is closer than SD but I don't know how far you want to travel.
I am happy to help you with the instal, but I'd prefer you had someone who's already done an FJ before. I've done instals on 4Runners (same suspension setup) but I don't know you and don't want to be blamed later for anything. However, as others have said, it is an easy instal.
pm me as necessary.

Wow Mark, thanks for the offer, thats huge. However, I already made an appointment for this week and somehow got some cash together. Thanks again, hopefully I'll see you at the donut shop meet!
my dealer wants like around 735 for ome, and 3 something for the install and alignment so around 1,100 for this install hope this helps you guage some more, and they also told me that if you do a spacer lift and something breaks you bought it. if you use their ome lift and something breaks they buy it.
sorry for double post but they also told me any other lift installed, and it breaks no warranty. fyi
That will depend upon your service writer and what the problem is. I have a 3" lift and lots of other mods and recently had a leaking CV boot replaced under warranty.
