I'm planning on heading south from up here in Nor Cal to Joshua Tree and doing some camping over this next weekend and doing the Loop trail known as the Geology Tour trail and linking up to the Berdoo Canyon Trail.
Anyone interested in hooking up for that?
I'm planning on camping at Black Rock Fri-Sunday in case anyone else is interested.
Just thought I'd throw a line out and see if anyone bites...

Ok, according to the info I have, the trailhead for SC40 (Back Country Adventure So Cal) shows it at N34 00.368 W116 05.091 for the Geology Tour trail which takes you to the start of Bardoo Canyon Trail.
My plan is to be there at around 10am on Saturday... I've never been to Joshua Tree so kind of excited about exploring...heard good things about the area.
Like I said before, I'll be camping up in Black Rock Friday-Sunday. Anyone have any idea how long it takes to get from the park enterence to the trail head?
Hope to see some of you there.... :-)

Based on my map program, it looks like it is about 20 miles down the Park Blvd from the Visitor Center located off Hwy 62/Park Blvd (Quail Springs). Seems it goes by a bunch of different names. Looks like if you hit Pinto Basin road, you have gone too far. If you go to the Joshua Tree NP page, you can pull down a park map and locate it. It is marked on the map.

SC-40 says its 11.5 miles w/ difficulty of 2, but the SC39 (Berdoo Canyon) says its 14.9 miles w/ difficulty of 4. Elevation change: 900-4,400 so should be good.
They say its got ruts and loose sand going through the high walled canyon and there are a few rough rocky sections that will take a little work to get through.
Doesn't sound overly difficult but should be interesting to check out.
