Re: Clearplex/Shatterguard/etc installers?

this place was suggested to me by the california clearplex distributor.

i'm unable to link their site bc of my newb status but look up xact window tinting in ontario, ca.

i had it done bout 10 days ago, literally the day after i bought the car. it took a few hours, mine was the first fj they had done but they have done a number of vehicles prior. apparently they do more rv's but not many autos bc its not widely known. it wasnt cheap, $195 but they're the only guys that have any experience with the product (it must be heated to shrink it to the windshield). there were no bubbles or scratches but there were some tiny, minor imperfections or wrinkles that cleared up after it dried out (you must keep the windshield dry for 48 hours). when looking thru the windshield, i cannot see any distortion or difference on the windshield. its only visible when i look exactly where the edge of the film meets the glass. this is a good thing because it is definitely ILLEGAL if you care about that sort of thing. i cannot vouch for the protection it offers but it is a fairly thick, flexible film and i feel more confident now that its in place.

Just curious, have you had any rocks or pebbles thrown your way?

I'll probably opt for the Clear Plex option once I move onto my third windshield (if the lawsuit against Toyota hasn't been resolved by then). My second one is too far gone to even consider an aftermarket treatment.

Just wondering what your inital impression is of your Clear Plex?
