Rincon Shortcut Cinco de Mayo

Gonna do a leisurely day run through the Rincon Shortcut on Saturday May 5th with 446cube and would love to have others come along. Prolly start out relatively early, like around 10:30 and be on our way home by 2:00 or 3:00PM.

FYI: Rincon is an easy trail with a couple minor rough patches that any stock rig can take. There is a good likelihood of minor pinstriping resulting from the super tight area at the very end of the trail with brush/shrubs on both sides...probably won't even notice them after a good wash.

So Saturday May 5th, 10:30AM, Rincon Shortcut. Post up if you'd like to come along.

How long do you think it will take to run?

It all depends on the rate of travel and how long we stop to grub by the creek. Taking it real slow and easy we'd be done in 2 to 3 hours tops. The entire trail is about 27 miles...as usual there's the mud-womping area down below too if anyone feels the urge to get dirty/stuck - I'll pass on that as I am still washing out mud from February.

About 38 miles from Long Beach - pretty close considering how picturesque it is.

Re: Rincon Shortcut Cinco de Mayo

Last time I was on Rincon I had to go to the ranger station in Glendora. Get a day pass green sticker & the combination for the gate.
Do you still have to do all that or is the gate wide open?

You are prolly better off breakin your FJ in @ Azusa Canyon. Rincon is very mello but has some very nice views. The Rincon entrance is right down the road from Azusa Canyon Off road area.

You still have to go thru the ranger station to get the gate combination - you can get the day pass at the station or beforehand, at Big5 for example - you actually don't need the pass if you're not gonna stop.

Yes, the trail is very mellow - last time out (about a month ago) there were two or three rough patches that you needed to pick a line through (everyone was surprised at the change in the terrain, even without any rain). It's not a difficult trail by any means. So if you just wanna get your feet wet and your ride a little dusty, it's a good spot - but if you want to really get down and dirty, you can go to Azusa Canyon, a stones throw (literally) from the gate.
