Redondo Beach: Under FJ Attack!

So here I am, visiting my sis in Redondo Beach, and there are FJs everywhere. When I got in, I noticed a TRD in the driveway of her neighbor to the north. On our way to dinner last night, I spotted two Ti's, a Fusion Yellow and a blue. This morning, as I left the house, I noticed that my sister's neighbor to the SOUTH has an FJ too, this one a blue with black steelies. As I drove (my stupid rental car) to the gas station, I saw a Ti and another blue, then another Ti as I made my way toward Torrance.

Once in Torrance, though, and all the way into Long Beach on the 710, and driving around for hours down there (including an interminable, spiral drive through the LB aquarium's parking lot, which one would assume would contain at least ONE FJ), I saw not a one.

Back towards Redondo, though, after a jog back up on the 405, there they all were again: three more FJs in a row between Hawthorne & Torrance Blvd and my sister's house, and the two on either side of her place.

Strangeness!

Welcome to California and now you know why "giving a friendly FJ wave" to other FJ drivers doesn't work. The place is literally crawling with FJ's ... most of which will never leave pavement. Their owners are less likely to join forums like this one because they're happy with stock commuter cars that look "cool".

I hoped to be the only one in the area with an FJ when I bought it but no such luck. I guess it's good because it means that Toyota will be more likely to support the FJ, add more mods to the base vehicle, add more options, etc.

Southern California has been flooded by FJ's

Re: Redondo Beach: Under FJ Attack!

Cali probably has 1/2 of the nation's FJ population. No exclusivity.

Talking Re: Redondo Beach: Under FJ Attack!

I think seeing alot of fj's is kinda cool.I really never seen any that are lifted and tricked out.So the ones that are lifted and tricked out are unique in their own special way.

Re: Redondo Beach: Under FJ Attack!

That's my 'hood' (pun intended). And Director13 lives in the area too. As does Perverse.....

You didn't see mine that day as my FJ is kept at my office in Culver City to make room for the family Landcruiser and my Porsche in the garage at home.

Toys, toys, toys............lol

Allright.. we were in Redondo today and saw 3 FJC and one Killer 85 4runner that stopped and checked out my FJ. It was a great day at the beach.

If that TRD still doesnt have its license plates on and is from South bay Toyota, then its me and mine.

I like seeing a bunch of FJ's around. Though seeing a bunch of TRD's in the area takes a bit away from my uniqueness. Still love it!

Re: Redondo Beach: Under FJ Attack!

Yeah I live in the area too. I'm always looking at the FJ's to see any mods and not a one. In fact judging by who is driving these and the lack of dirt or scratches I cant imagine I have seen any that have seen a trail. Its a shame because I would love to meet up with some folks in the Soth Bay to wheel with.
