Re: Enough is enough, SoCal FJs unite; The official SoCal FJ Club

I'm all for anyone wanting to get out on the trail and wheel together in a group - its a safer way to have fun. I just noticed in the beginning posts there already seemed to be a power battle forming for who was going to be president, and wanted to let others know that there was another option without all the regulations and demands a formal club usually requires, besides fees, dues and time. There are dozens of 4wd clubs that coexist in the socal area, with all types of vehicles sharing the same trails and most are responsible enough to not ruin it for everyone else with their actions. The great thing abour A4x4 is there are no area designations, we have members from San Diego to San Fernando Valley to the high desert - hardly a localized group! Whatever you guys do, have fun, be safe, and act responsibly.

There is currently a FJ cruiser club in the OC. Called FJ4X4WHELERS. However I am the only current member, founder, president, CEO/CFO, and Sargent at arms. It's exhausting with meetings, PR, Planning trips, signing autographs and going to birthday parties. Not to mention car washes, paper routes, and mowing lawns to help raise money to keep FJ4X4WHEELERS out of the red from buying some mods. JK
I think the bolded JK says enough to me. i am the pesident ok, ok, fine, joint presidentship?

Great, an OC chapter...that mean on all the trail runs we'll all try and cut each other off and then slow down...all while giving dirty looks and ignoring each other while on cell phones?

Off-road-road rage here I come....woooohoooo!
Its not going to be an unorganized "lets go on that trail and dust everyone behind us out" thing. i would like this to be something where OC FJers can get together, shoot the sh!t, look at each others rigs for build ideas, have install meets, and just have an all around good time.

yeah, many of us are already using adventure4x4.net as a local Socal FJ club. Most of the members have FJs, but all are welcome. There are lots of formal and informal runs and many of those end up being all FJs.

Cheers,
Roger

Same meeting place? In OC every time? Maybe this should be called more appropriately the L.A. Metro Area FJ Club or Orange County FJ Club. I wonder how many San Diego area FJs you'll attract as many of them already run with the Adventure 4X4.net group which happens to be mostly FJs but is open to all. Good luck whichever way you go.
I would like this to be mainly an oc type of thing. i drive about 50+miles a day and see at least 5-10 FJs a day and wonder, why arent we all in a club? I dont want this club to be a rival or challenger to adventure4x4 at all.

Adventure4x4.net IS the current SoCal FJ club, already has stickers, t-shirts, devoted members and no politics. Its the way a club should be, unless you just have to have a special handshake and enjoy power struggles. Personally I will never again join a club with mandatory meetings and run requirements, the people at Adventure4x4.net are the best people you could possibly hook up and run trails with period.
I know what you are saying, but it would be nice to have a large group of FJs get together every month or so. trail runs would not be absolutely necessary as this would be more of a meet and greet than a trail run. I would also love you and cruiserlarry to come out and show everyone your cool rigs and awesome products. i am sure that most socal people would love to see your truck in person and be able to pick up parts from you rather than driving out to hemet to pick them up.

I think the issue is not that he dislikes adventure4x4, I think its more of a geographical issue. A4x4 seems more geared towards those out in southern eastern counties, and from what I gather alot of the response is from Coastal and Orange County guys. Not to be in the middle but FJKarma and you seemed a little annoyed at the thought of another Socal group getting together, but I say the more the marrier, I doubt it will affect any A4x4 meets or runs if a few guys from Orange County get together now and then. If you wish to not be part of any political problems then you probably shouldnt comment on another clubs formation....Keep in mind I know a few guys that roll with A4x4 and Im just saying this as to help people see both sides...in the end its about guys that like their cars and want to have fun.
well said, hanzo. once again, i dont want this club to rival or challenge A4x4, actually it would be nice to have large get togethers by combining the two.

So, in short, I dont want this OC FJ club to challenge adventure4x4. i just thought it would be cool and convenient to most of the central OC area FJers to get together and have a good time. wheeling would not be neccessary, it would be more of a meet and greet.

I appreciate the other members wanting to be a part of this. I hope we can get a lot of people to join.

What? No secret meetings by candle light? No sacrificing chickens and smearing blood on -- stuff? No dark hooded cloaks? No secret oaths? What about the orgies? None of them either? What about high priestesses? You can't tell me that the nubile young accolites will be excluded? I'm thinking about Pres. George Bush at Yale and the Skull and Bones club here. Why can't we model the FJ club on the one our president (and Democratic Presidential Cadidate John Kerry for that matter) were members of?

(1) There's precedent
(2) It builds political leadership
(3) Political infighting is encouraged and I'm sure that there will be several members who want the rush of being president (of the So Cal FJ Club).
(4) We can also wheel in our FJ's

Just think about it.

We may be onto something here.

hahaha, It sounds interesting, not sure Im much of a club kinda guy, but if I can find the time I would like to get the tires dirty now and then, admittedly I dont wheel at all right now, so it would be fun...I just didn't want this to turn into something negative when it started out as a positive.
