Too bad about the damage. How did it happen? Human error or has it eroded so bad that that was the only way?
It's very tight - some took a line that didn't get them tagged but all were very close to getting scraped (missed by THAT much) - 1/3 of the FJ's that tried to make it through were stamped in the same place by the rock wall. You're up at such an acute angle that the FJ is leaning right into the wall and the road bed is nothing but trail dust - very loose - like talcum powder. I thought I cleared and then - oops.
You know the spot but it's worse than before. The best clearance from damage was maybe 1 1/2 or 2 inches (clearance out from the wall) - and some of us didn't clear.
When we were up on Deep Creek we ran into a couple of rangers who said that they expected to see the entire area closed before September. The decision hasn't been made but it's very dry and the fire hazard is extreme.

you guys were awesome! i have lots of pictures and some video of you guys, i will try to get it up in the next few days,
thanks for leading, had a wonderful time with a wonderful bunch of people. i was very impressed with the performance of the FJ, its the first time i have had the pleasure of wheeling with one.
thanks!
it was nice running with you, your welcome any time. and welcome to the forums!
p.s this guy knows his computer stuff! i was impressed, i want to see your rides pc system when its done!
oh man looked like a blast, i was driving right behind ricoverde when he scraped through that section last run, and it was equally painful watching it from the outside then it must have been for him inside. After watching him do it, i slightly corrected my line and barely made it through, my friends behind me said i was inches away from the wall. That sections definitely a nerve wrencher. From the pics above, it looks like suspension helps there a lot as apparent with the blue fj with the walker evans wheels. Lets plan another run in the near future, i cant wait to go out there with my new lift! oh btw anyone know what the 4runner had done to it to make it through cleghorn, did he follow you guys up all the harder trails? i'm just asking because my friend has a same year 4runner and wants to do cleghorn too.

Everyone who scraped had modified/advanced suspension:
- FJROD (Blue FJ with Walker Evans) has an All Pro Suspension and he scraped;
- THUBUB (Silver FJ) has an OME Suspension/lift.
- UPHILL (Silver FJ - me) has a DR Suspension.
The stockers did better in this case.

Lets plan another run in the near future,
8/4 Dishpan Springs trail/road - difficult but doable in a modified FJ. Note the SoCal Forum.

I hate to put words in SEANZ0RZ's mouth. He took one harder trail that the group apparently didn't want to try. I was the last FJ in the stick and SEANZORZ was behind me as a tag-along. The 4-Runner was running modified suspension and oversize tires but Sean would have to tell you precisely what he did to his rig. (PM him?) I don't recall after market belly armor but I didn't look that closely. SEANZORZ is young but he's a good off-road driver and knows a good line from a bad one.

Man, I have been so busy since we got back from this run this is the first chance I have had to say thanks to all who were on the run.
We had a great time, good to see some of the faces we have become accustomed to seeing and as always to meet new brothers in the FJ fold. Not sure what it is about this vehicle, but it certainly seems to attract quality people.
Highlight of the run for me was something that I think only Jean and I saw, FJRod took an alternate route at the entrance to one of the side trails that was nearly verticle for a space just short of the length of the FJ and made it look easy. Very impressive.
The trails on Cleghorn are definatley deteriorating. The dry erosion is advancing quickly. A couple of lines that we took three weeks ago with ease were now very difficult. The one section where the damage occured was as noted extra treacherous. Again, FJRod with probobly the most advanced setup on the run took a hit there. Dominic avoided damage by taking such I high line it looked like he was dangerously close to the tipping point.
Everyone seemed to take the damage in stride, all in a days wheelin'.
Can't wait for another outing.
Thanks again everyone
