Re: I Spotted you in SOCAL Thread

Sorry for the off-topic, but for those that may want it, I've greatly improved this Santa Ana Mountains Google Earth topo map. It includes all the canyons, springs, trails, peaks and points of interest.

BTW I was up on Main Divide yesterday and the gate was closed after Indian Truck Trail. So you can get that far in from Ortega, but no more. Modjeska and Silverado gates were also closed.

The map is in both .kmz and .kml versions:

I like it as well.

I see how I can use Google Earth (I just have the free stuff, but will pay if I can get things I need) and manually find points on the trails, like intersections, and grab coordinates so that I can manually put them into my GPS. Is there a way, tool, etc., to be able to get the whole thing into my GPS? Am I going to need to "borrow" a Tablet PC with GPRS, Bluetooth GPS, and Google Earth in order to really make use of the files on the trail?

Apologies for the hijack everybody. I need to do a quick thread on this Davebert. My system is working awesome right now, and it's practically free. Does what you're saying and way more. I'll keep you posted.
