You gotta watch a vehicle like this - it is a 1976, which means it has to be smogged every 2 years. It has headers and other work done, so my guess is he couldn't get it smogged and has to sell it. Just my guess. It is a NICE FJ40 though, and would be sweet as a dedicated off-road only vehicle.

give it a year or two and maybe the smog exempt year will jump to 76.. (crosses fingers!)

No unfortunately they did that once and reversed it...

California had a rolling 30 year smog exemption law in place for about 2 years but recinded it. It's back to 1975 or earlier = smog exempt.

Yeah I think so, it has to do with emission testing on vehicles. When I lived in Detroit it had to be done every year to renew your tags. Here in TN they dont care outside of Memphis. Heck they just made having insurance mandatory a few years ago, lol.
