Borregofest II prerun photos in ABDSP 2007-09-29

FJ-Ollie, Frogeye, and Dionysius (from Adventure4x4.net) did some trails pre-running in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park (ABDSP) today since Ollie will be trail lead for a few runs in two weeks. Here are a few photos from today.

Airing down in Ocotillo 76 gas station

Spotted this Pinzgauer at the 76 gas station; also met SD_Prototype

Painted Gorge, ABDSP

After our little run in Painted Gorge, we headed over Mortero Palms trail and Piedras Grandes for a quick lunch break before going over to Canyon sin Nombre.

Locomotive water tank, Mortero Palms trail

Mud caves along Canyon sin Nombre trail

Diablo Dropoff

Windcaves

I have some serious concerns. I thought this was a tread-lightly group?? First there is a posting about terminal noxious gas - that would kill a Kurdish town with one massive blast - and now we have a photo of the extermination of a barrel cactus (protected plant species) with wild abandon.
One might go so far as to say murder of an endangered plant with GLEE.

SAVE THE CACTUS!

Believe me Uphill, Ollie and I tried to detain this eco-terrorist when he made a most amazing escape using his chili-powered terminus gas to overcome us and disappeared in the desert.

Thanks. Hope you can make it to Borregofest II, even if it's just for Saturday only. There'll be a raffle with lots of prizes (All Pro, Dirty Parts, and Sierra Expeditions are donating tons of products for the raffle). IMO, this is the best way to check out all the mods for the FJC and you may even get to ride on different trucks and check out the different suspension set-ups.

LOL! Uphill you are too funny. We all had a great time out there. I personally certify these runs as fun and beautiful. Anyone signed up will really enjoy them. I promise, no plants, animals, or trails were harmed by my gas. Fortunately for Tcao I had none yesterday.

So Tcao, in your opinion, how did my suspension work? I was able to really get on it a couple of times yesterday. I've got to admit, he didn't complain or squeal like a girl.

If any of you want to come out to Borrego Fest, You are all welcome.

At the end of the day we were going to charge up blowsand but my rig's locker and atrac were not working? It seems like the computer doesn't sense that it is in 4low. But it was. Oh well, I'm sure it's just some dirty little switch. A great reason to go and visit the dealer I guess (bigsigh).

Froggy has the All Pro WE coilovers in front and DR springs in the rear suspension and his JFC's handling characteristics in the washes during the "hi" speed runs were outstanding. It is obvious that his suspension is dialed in. Also, driver's skill is the big key to high speed desert bombing.

err... big boys don't squeal!

edit: have you tried to reset the 4WD 'puter yet, froggo?
