Re: List of CO2 fill locations in SoCal

Just a heads up on Maximum welding. I stopped by today on my way to All Pro. They had my tank filled and on my way in about ten minutes. It cost $19.00. They were nice. The two guys doing the filling look like brothers. Said they are open 8-5 m to fri and also open on Sat, but didn't get the hours. Fill while you wait.

The above address is correct.

Regards, SSC

Is this for a 10lb fill? Price must have gone up. Mbisson said they were at $12.

Re: List of CO2 fill locations in SoCal

It was a 10LB bottle. Due to your question I checked my receipt. I wish I had looked at it before. It said 20LB's. I pulled out my speedbag and I knew I had a problem as the bag was too light. Sure enough, the bottle is empty and the speed bag was blown out along the back seem.

I didn't think CO2 would cause that damage to the bag. I also don't know how all the CO2 escaped since the main valve was still closed.

I will call powertank tomarrow with a few questions.

Regards, SSC

Your blow-out valve "blew out". You need to get another part. They're about $4. I had one go when my tank was on top of the FJ sitting in the driveway. There is a LOT of force involved since the tank holds a lot of pressure. Sometimes they "just blow". I had that problem with my PowerTank (10 lbs) but not with my 20 lbs tank, purchased from SEALs in Costa Mesa where I got the 10 pound tank filled.

Re: List of CO2 fill locations in SoCal

Thanks for the info. It appears the pressure release disk needs to be replaced. Can that be purchased and changed or is it a job for the welding supply company?

The welding supply company should have some. Simply add teflon tape for a tight seal and use a wrench to turn the brass fitting in.

How was the damaged speed bag handled by Powertank? One of the buckles on my speedbag snapped. That bag has a lot of sentimental value as it was a present and I've had people signed it. So I live with the broken buckle.

Tony, my Powertank SpeedBag lasted about 2 months and the zipper gave out. They are NOT well made.
