Well in case if anyone doesn't know Main Divide at Blue Jay camp is open. However the gate on Main Divide that leads to Santiago Peak is closed at Indian Truck trail. I went up there today and the conditions were good. The ground was a little damp in some unexposed areas not much mud. It was a little windy but not to bad. The views were pretty good even though there were high clouds.
There were quite a few vehicle coming up from Corona via Indian Truck trail not sure where the trail head is now with all the new homes being built.. I think next week I may come down that way to see where it is unless anyone here knows
Maybe it was the USFS that did it? That's just wrong if it were the home builders.
my guess is the new home owners there (the houses along the path are moved in now) got the home owners association to put the poles there. that has got to be illegal since it is not a private road/neighborhood.
I did the North Main Divide yesterday by myself. I went as far as the 1st Peak and then busted a u-turn, well befor the gate. I did not like being up there by myself. I was scouting it out for a future run. I left there and then headed back towards 74 and decided to do the El Cisaro truck trail down to the bottom and then back up. I hit this narly mud puddle in 2wd and got stuck for a little bit. Turned on the E-Locker and all was fine with my new mud tires. Today I meet up with a budy and we did the Holy Jim trail and decided to go past the trail head. Good news if you want to become a squatter. There is a home back up there for sale. Next to the ranger station, well past the Fire Station. Holy Jim was crowded as all hell today. about 50 cars at the trail head, anothe 6 ot 7 at the end. About 15 trucks parked along the dirt road and Just to be a smart ass I saw a dude there with his H3 parked. I asked if he was broken down and needed a tow. As I left Holy Jim, I was the lead car, following behind me was my budy, 3 jeep wranglers and another stock FJ. In all I saw about 5 FJ's in Holy Jim and talked to one of them and told him about the Site here. He was all excited. He was in a black cherry and told me he just bought it the other day and wanted to test out the 4wd. At the start of the dirt raod was another 12 cars by the white sign, and I must of been pased by 10 or so dirt bikes and 10 or so mountain bikes. Yesterday up off the main divide I saw not even a sole. After Holy Jim I busted down to blackstar trail head and it was all locked up. Saw like 25 cars there with people hitching back on there mountain bikes to there cars. Talked to one dude who had an FJ did a 15 mile bike trip up to the peak by the antennas and he stated that all the houses that the squaters live in have been vacant for some time it looked like. Interesting I said. He told me that he looked inside some of the houses to see if anyone was home and he said some of the houses looked to be vanalized. So that was my day. Interesting at best. BTW happy new year.
