If anyone has any doubt that off roaders are good people, just spend a few minutes looking around this forum and see how many people are doing something to help someone else. Helping with installs, advice, finances. Celebrating births and birthdays. Whatever it might be, I have never been more impressed with the altruistic desire to help others than I am with the members of this forum.
Attend any trail run or get together and look at the diversity of age, race, etc. No walls, no haves and have nots. Just a group of people with a common interest having a good time.
And here is more proof. A few months ago my nephew and I attended a run up Cleghorn that was a send off for a young soldier heading off for a tour in Iraq. Great time with a great group of people. Unfortunately for me, it did not end well as I realized towards the end of the day that somewhere along the trail I had lost a very special ring. My nephew and I spent several hours scouring every spot on the trail where we had stopped to no avail. It was gone for good.
Or so I thought.
Yesterday I got a call from the jeweler who made the ring. Another off roader was on the trail last weekend and found the ring! Not only that, he took the time to track down the jeweler who made it, based on the trademark inside the ring, and the jeweler was able to ID it as the one that they had made for me. I will be getting the ring back this weekend.
The guy who found it could easily have made a nice chunk of change by selling the ring just for the gold but he said that he recognized that it represented something special to someone and made the effort to track me down and get it back to me.
Off Roaders are good people!

WOW, I cant believe that someone found it and actually tracked down who it belonged to. Whoever it is that found your ring must be a good person to do something like that.

You just got lucky Rico that someone nice found it. I am not implying that off roaders are not nice, I have to agree that they are the nicest bunch of people I have met as a group, but there is bound to be a few that are not that nice. You just got lucky.
Best of all is that you shared this story with us. I appreciate it, and it reminds me that there are some very nice......oh wait...it reminds me that, you just got lucky
